Legacy Gala Honors a Legend

The Stacey and Bo Porter SELF Foundation’s 2nd Annual Legacy gala celebrated with supporters to include over fifty celebrity guests, all present to honor Hall of Famer and MLB Executive Vice President of Baseball Development, Frank Robinson with the 2014 Torch Award.

The star studded event was chaired by Philamena Baird and the intimate interview stage setting was designed by Darryl & Co with lighting and sound provided by Ward & Ames. From the red carpet reception, to the swanky silent auction, to the parade of celebrity vips – guests thoroughly enjoyed the lovely evening. Noted attendees were: Carol and Robert Fondren, LaToya Luckett, Cathy and Gary Brock, Gary Sheffield, Gina Gaston and Mario Ellie, Mychelle and Shawn Taylor, Marwin Gonzalez, Karen and Scott Rozzell, Leroy Burrell, Gina and Carl Luna, Chester Pitts, Marcy and Robert Duncan, Enos Cabell, Marla and James Davis, Reid Ryan, Anita and LaTroy Hawkins, Kay and Fred Zeidman, George Springer, Sonny and Jodie Jiles, Jared Cosart, Franci Fondren, Trenidad Hubbard, Gary “Sarge” Matthews, Michelle Burrell, Jimmy Wynn, Jose Cruz, Amanda and Robert Brock, JR Richards, Lloyd Bickham, Terri and John Havens, Michael Titley, Walter Fondren, and Josh Zeid.

The evening also kicked off a yearlong raffle opportunity to receive a 2015 Grand Jeep Cherokee generously donated by James Davis and Gulfgate Dodge. The winner will be announced at the 2015 Legacy Gala.

Celebrity Guests, Major Donors and Board Members attended a private reception with Mr. Robinson the evening beforehand hosted by honorary gala chairs, Marcy and Robert Duncan.

Board Chairman and Co-Founder Bo Porter stated: “We have been involved in mentoring and coaching young student athletes since our University of Iowa days and together we decided to form our foundation in 2012. Stacey as a native Houstonian, and I as an eighteen year resident of Houston, together are completely dedicated to our community – your community, and committed to helping and impacting others from all walks of life. We both have used our life experiences as examples to instruct young students.
